Riedikon Training Center, New Logistics and Administration Building

On parcel no. L1340 at Bühlenweg 20 in Riedikon, the City of Uster’s Civil Protection Service operates a training centre. The site has a total area of 28'573 m², of which 10'400 m² are used for the training centre, 4600 m² are leased to a dog club, and 9300 m² are leased for agricultural use. The remaining 4273 m² consist of forest and marshland. The training centre comprises various training buildings and exercise areas, as well as associated changing facilities, training rooms, administrative offices, and storage spaces. The two fire training buildings have been newly built in recent years and are state of the art. Some of the ancillary buildings, however, are in poor condition and in urgent need of refurbishment. Under the sublease agreement for the Zeughaus West site with a non-profit housing cooperative, Civil Protection will have to vacate that site in the foreseeable future and requires new vehicle storage space as well as premises that allow its functions to be consolidated in one location. For these two reasons, it was decided to expand the training centre by adding a new logistics and administrative centre. This will make it possible to accommodate the entire Civil Protection organisation at a single central location and to carry out training activities there.
