«Swiss Memorial for the Victims of National Socialism» A place of remembrance in the city of Bern

The Federal Council is committed to ensuring that the victims of Nazi persecution and the Holocaust are not forgotten. In April 2023, funded therefore CHF 2.5 million for the creation of a memorial site dedicated to the victims of Nazism. The memorial will be erected in the city of Bern and will be accessible to all. The aim of the procedure is to select a project that commemorates the victims of Nazism, encourages reflection on Switzerland's history during the Nazi era and, in light of the mass crimes committed by the Nazis, questions historical responsibility for the present. The selected project should have a contemporary and aesthetically effective design that offers multiple intellectual and emotional approaches.
