Description

IWB currently has 84,000 smart meters in use. IWB will continue to increase this number to meet the legislative requirements.

To operate these devices, software is used that is continuously being developed with the goal of improving and correcting existing functions, as well as adding new ones derived from practical suggestions and requests, changing system environments (updated system software, etc.), and legal requirements. Therefore, the software must be updated regularly. IWB uses software from the supplier NES. However, software updates (see Appendix C1 “SIP Datasheet”) are not delivered directly by NES to the utilities but exclusively through resellers, known as development partners. NES offers comprehensive support for NES system software, NES software tools, and the associated NES components (data concentrators, meters, load switching devices, OSGP terminals). The Software Investment Protection (SIP) Platinum Service covers all future developments and system enhancements. NES maintenance (SIP Service Platinum) includes software and firmware updates within the same releases, as well as upgrades to subsequent releases for meters, DC/DCN, and NES system software (Head End System), the NES Provisioning Tool, and the NES Diagnostics Tool, along with telephone and web-based technical support. Due to the software used at IWB, “SIP Platinum” or an equivalent service is required.

IWB requires a reseller who will provide us with the system customizations in accordance with SIP Platinum at a data transfer point defined by IWB for the next four years (2027–2030).
