Entsorgung + Recycling Zürich (ERZ) wishes to establish a new, interactive education centre at the Hagenholz site, focusing on the topics of the circular economy and water protection. The education centre (working title) is intended to demonstrate and bring to life the overall contribution ERZ makes to the city of Zurich, particularly in the areas of the environment, the circular economy and water protection. The focus will be on providing visitors with practical knowledge and encouraging behavioural change in the areas of waste management, the circular economy and water protection. The preliminary concept envisages an interactive, modern and modularly adaptable education centre. One part of the education centre (ground floor) is to be designed as an urban walking tour. Here, ERZ’s wide-ranging contributions to a liveable Zurich will be showcased, and knowledge about the circular economy, rainwater management and water protection will be imparted. The second part (upper floor) guides visitors through a typical Zurich flat and demonstrates the scope visitors themselves have to contribute to a liveable Zurich. This ensures that the knowledge is applied to visitors’ everyday lives and thus encourages potential behavioural change in their daily routines. The concept is designed to be modular; stations along the city walk and in the flat can be adapted or replaced as required. Information on current ERZ projects can be updated quickly and easily.
